Follow-Up Visits

No matter how severe Barrett’s esophagus is, ��Ȧ��Դվ Langone doctors recommend follow-up visits at least twice per year to monitor your progress. As part of your care, your gastroenterologist recommends a periodic upper endoscopy, along with other tests, to check for changes in the lining of the esophagus and monitor your response to treatment. 

If you have had an endoscopic procedure, it’s important to let your doctor know about any new symptoms so that he or she can address any complications.

Nutritional Counseling

Registered dietitians and nutritionists at ��Ȧ��Դվ Langone can help you create a diet plan to help effectively manage gastroesophageal reflux disease, or GERD. This can help prevent any further damage to the esophagus. They can also recommend foods and eating strategies to help you recover from an endoscopic procedure.

Weight Management

When combined with other treatments, losing weight can help to reduce acid reflux and prevent further damage to the esophagus.
