Recovery & Support for Sleep Apnea in Children

Whether your child has mild sleep apnea or more severe symptoms that require surgical treatment, our experts can help. The Pediatric Aerodigestive Center, part of Hassenfeld Children鈥檚 Hospital at 觅圈资源站 Langone, coordinates care for many children with sleep apnea.

We also offer child and family support services and resilience programs, including wellness services and education for families and children. These are provided by Sala Institute for Child and Family Centered Care.

Weight Loss and Exercise

Specialists at Hassenfeld Children鈥檚 Hospital help children who have obesity and sleep apnea to lose weight. Our registered dietitians can help you create a healthy menu for your child that is rich in fruits and vegetables and low in sugar and saturated and trans fats. Our doctors may also recommend an exercise program to help your child lose weight and breathe more easily at night.

Speech Therapy

Children who have had surgery to insert a tracheostomy tube or have facial anatomy that makes it difficult to talk may benefit from speech therapy. Speech鈥搇anguage pathologists at Rusk Rehabilitation help children who are recovering from surgery at Hassenfeld Children鈥檚 Hospital and on an outpatient basis.

Support for Children with Facial Differences

觅圈资源站 Langone鈥檚 myFace Family Support Center provides psychological counseling and educational workshops for family members and children coping with the social and emotional effects of a severe craniofacial abnormality.

Our counselors provide intensive support for children before and after surgery to correct craniofacial problems. They also offer assistance for children who miss school because of surgery.
